New Features for Accessing Label Archives and Medication Guides

Users can now search the label archives with a Set ID, in addition to the drug name searching that was already available. The Set ID uniquely identifies a label. Searching by Set ID in the label archives will retrieve all versions of the matching label that are available in the archive.

Additionally, users have new options available for accessing a specific version of a label or the most recent version of a label, regardless of whether that label is active or archived.

  • To retrieve the latest version of a label (active or archived):
    https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid={setid}

    Example:
    https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=01c77e6a-6381-4005-b647-481bbcd442aa

  • To retrieve a specific version of a label (active or archived):

This same functionality is also available for medication guides. Medication guides are paper handouts that come with many prescription medicines. The guides address issues that are specific to particular drugs and drug classes, and they contain FDA-approved information that can help patients avoid serious adverse events. The FDA requires that medication guides be issued with certain prescribed drugs and biological products.
